Meet the Writer
Hi, I’m Afton (named after a poem about a river in Scotland).
I’m the founder of a content marketing agency, Scribe National, which I started from my couch in comfy pants. Over the past 6 years, we’ve worked with 100+ clients in multiple countries — from solopreneurs to billion-dollar brands — to help them tell stories and share ideas through long-form content.
(Hence, why I’m stoked to be on Substack. Long live long-form).
I’m also a wife, dog mom, artist, and certified coach. Shout-out to my fellow multi-passionate people.
My path here wasn’t linear. I started journalism school at 17, thinking I wanted to be an international correspondent. Instead, I accidentally became an entrepreneur.
In the early days, I worked long hours to get traction. Today, the business runs with about 20 hours a week of my time. Not because I found a shortcut, but because I became more intentional about what I was building and why.
That realization changed the way I approached ambition, growth, marketing, and success itself.
I talk openly about money because I believe in income transparency. But my real definition of success is strong relationships, time freedom, creative fulfillment, and a business that supports my life.
